Music ranging from Bluegrass, Country, Swing and Folk occupied much of Jean’s time from the early 1980’s. Starting learning the Fiddle at age 15 she then added the acoustic Upright Bass, Electric Bass, and Vocals.
The first band formed and history was in the making.
Generic Bluegrass Band 1982 - 1985 Opened for the popular folk singer, Kate Wolf
August 1983-Won First Place in the Battle of the Bands at the High Sierra Music Festival out of 9 entrants. Judges for the contest were top national recording artists Rob Wasserman, Mark O’Conner and KFAT’s and Master of Ceremonies Cousin Al. The band was the opening act for country and bluegrass stars: Tony Rice, Taj Mahal, Riders In The Sky, Bluegrass Cardinals, and David Grismen and Friends at Leland Meadows High Sierra Music Festival.
1983- Recorded professional album
1984-Performed at Harrah’s Tahoe, High Sierra Tahoe, Harrah’s in Reno and other casino engagements
Idle Spurs 1985-1986 Jean started playing guitar and her songwriting started here as she composed musical arrangements performed by the group.
